Amazon Music hosted a musical celebration for Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana: Part 1 at the Chennai Trade Centre, featuring a live performance by composer A.R. Rahman and appearances by the film’s principal cast, including Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey and Rakul Preet Singh.
The event celebrated the film’s music, composed by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, with lyrics by Dr. Kumar Vishwas. The album has been released under the T-Series label, with Amazon Music serving as the film’s official music streaming partner.
The evening opened with a children’s choir performing the Tamil version of Jai Jai Ram. Producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari spoke about the making of the film and their connection to the Tamil language before Rahman took the stage to perform the track alongside singer Chinmayi Sripaada.
One of the evening’s highlights was Ravana Tandav, released on Dussehra. Yash, who portrays Ravana in the film, spoke about how the song helped him connect with the aura of Lord Shiva and influenced his portrayal of the character.
Rahman, accompanied by his orchestra and chorus, also presented themes and background music from the film before performing Mangal Rang and Jodi Jodi. Singer Sachet Tandon delivered the first live performance of Main Ram. The celebration concluded with the cast, singers and members of the creative team sharing the stage.
Speaking about the project, Rahman said the music was carefully crafted to complement the story, love and beliefs associated with the epic. He also described working with Hans Zimmer as a memorable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Rishabh Gupta, GM, Amazon Music India, said the platform aimed to give the film’s music a celebration matching the scale of the cinematic adaptation. He highlighted the cultural significance of the Ramayana and its longstanding connection with music, particularly during festive occasions.
Malhotra, who is also Global CEO of DNEG and founder of Prime Focus, said music had always been central to his vision for Ramayana. He noted that bringing Rahman and Zimmer together was intended to create a soundscape rooted in Indian culture while connecting with audiences worldwide.
Bhushan Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director of T-Series, said the collaboration brought together distinct musical sensibilities to honour the epic’s cultural legacy and make it accessible to audiences across generations.
The Ramayana album is available on Amazon Music across subscription plans, including its free, ad-supported tier. Amazon Music Unlimited subscribers can access the album in HD, Ultra HD and Spatial Audio formats.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.
