Renowned Santoor Exponent Tarun Bhattacharya, Acknowledges India's Rise As A Global Power

India’s iconic santoor player Tarun Bhattacharya recently teamed up with another maestro flautist Ronu Majumdar for a scintillating jugalbandi in Kolkata. Presented by All India Radio the concert was also celebrating G20 in India. The year has been dedicated to India’s leadership of G-20 and among various programs and celebrations; this concert was also one of them.

The duo has been performing together for over three decades across the globe and the concert featured a Bhajan on Raag Khambaj followed by Raag Hanswadhani.

Speaking about the concert, Tarun Bhattacharya said, “I was absolutely thrilled to have played the concert in Kolkata with one of my closest musician friends and an absolute virtuoso Ronu Majumdar as we are flawless and very organically vibe. We have been doing this over the last many decades across continents and Kolkata was no different.  More than the concert I feel my participation in the G 20 celebrations across the Nation is more enriching. The concept of India as the ViswaGuru is what excites me, India has been the cradle of ancient civilization and our treasure of art, culture has been the hallmark of our civilization. Today when I am able to showcase our rich heritage of music to celebrate international cooperation I truly feel blessed and honoured. Today thanks to proactive leadership India is truly leading the way for a new evolving world order.”

He further adds, “I keep travelling across the globe all through the year as an ambassador of India’s biggest export to the world, i.e., music and culture and on every occasion I   get goosebumps when I see the honour and respect India gets today, our country has truly emerged as a leading Nation in today’s world order and I unequivocally state that music and culture too has played a major role in creating this positive impact.”

Santoor’s biggest living star signs off with these words, “I hope I can live to see the day when Indian music (and when I say Indian music it also includes Bollywood) becomes the biggest music industry in the world and I shall have the pride to realise I too played a small part in this.”
