The Midnight, hailing from the USA, is set to grace Nagaland with their synthwave revival on February 22, today. Comprising singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle and Danish-born producer Tim Mcewan, the duo promises to evoke nostalgic 80s vibes for concert-goers.
Livenow Events, the organizers behind the Nagaland leg of their India tour, announced that The Midnight will perform at Noune Resort on February 22.
Atsung Jamir, Director of Livenow Events, revealed at a press conference that the concert will cater to an intimate crowd of 3000-4000 attendees. Since their formation in 2012, Lyle and Mcewan have garnered a global following, selling out shows in the USA and UK. With over 1.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify, 200,000 on Apple Music, and 100 million views on YouTube, The Midnight is acclaimed as a driving force in the synthwave revival. Their music has been featured on popular Netflix series like Stranger Things and American television series Cobra Kai.
The concert will feature local acts Trance Effect, Tune Up Channel, and DJ NIDA. Trance Effect, an independent pop-rock group from Dimapur, Nagaland, is known for their energetic rhythms and has already released an EP. Tune Up Channel, a synthwave/pop-rock ensemble from Nagaland formed in 2015, will also perform. DJ NIDA, a groundbreaking artist from Delhi known for her explosive energy and innovative beats, has graced major festivals and international venues.
Tickets, priced at Rs 2,400, are available offline in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Kohima, Mokokchung, Wokha, and Diphu, as well as online on SkillBox and My TV Shows. Gates to the venue will open at 4:00-5:00 pm, allowing attendees ample time to explore the event grounds and indulge in the festivities. Food stalls will also be set up at the venue. The support acts will kick off the evening at 6:00 pm, followed by The Midnight's 90-minute set.
