The Yatin Srivastava Project just premiered the music video for his new single titled ‘Look at Me’ and we’re LOSING IT. The track has heavy electronic elements and a dark vibe to it as compared to the earlier electronic, bass driven version.
Check out the mind-bending video and the re-mastered track which was premiered yesterday.
The Yatin Shrivastava Project was conceptualized by multi talented writer, guitarist, and producer Yatin Shrivastava back in 2013 and has made quite the mark in the Indie Prog Rock/Metal scene. The project unveiled their début gig, an acoustic performance of songs off The Dream Plays In Reverse in Brick Lane, London. That gig was recorded and filmed and was released as a live EP in January, last year. The single had a more acoustic, chill vibe to it and dabbled with electronic influences inspired by the soundscape and ambiance similar to that of Porcupine Tree, Karnivool, and Nine Inch Nails.

We were intrigued with this shift in his sound and wanted to understand how his experiments with fresh electronic sounds began. “With the original, we performed last year, it was a super chill vibe and we were really just experimenting with electronic music. I knew how I wanted the song to sound back then so we made the conversion by adding some heavy electronic elements,” Yatin told loudest.
“I went into the Studio, knowing the sounds I was going for but if you notice, there are a lot of heavy electronic, cinematic and even orchestral elements involved. There’s so much going on in the background, so many harmonies that collectively make an impact and I wanted the sound to be larger than life and as immense as it could be,” he said.
The video has an edgy, dark vibe, befitting the lyrics, which talk about the apathy and indifference of society today. The lyrics which were written by Yatin about 2 years ago comes from a personal space and represents conflicts we’ve all experienced in some ways with society but It’s not what he wanted to do in the first place. “It took us just 10 hours to shoot! We started off with a completely different idea and went into a different direction altogether. We wanted it to be shot aesthetically and that is why we gave a lot of attention to detail and it involved a lot of nit-picking of different shots that we fused together.”
After seeing the top-notch work that the project has put out, we’re all like, whats next and what to expect?
‘Take A Look At Me’ is a precursor for what lies ahead. It’s just a glimpse into what my new stuff is like. A lot of the electronic elements will get you grooving and some will just plain and simple shock you. I find these new elements really interesting and I’m sure listeners will too. We’re gearing up for a release soon by the end of this year and are collaborating with musicians like Craig Blundell (Drummer for Steven Wilson) and a lot more collabs to watch out for. I can’t wait to put out my new stuff since there are so many ideas in my head”
This record is not for simple and easy consumption. It’s complex – being a mix of heavy, soft, intricate, detailed and sometimes even weird sounds which sound so fresh.
