Celebrating Blaise Fernandes At 60: Leading The Charge In India’s Music Business

Blaise Fernandes, President & CEO of the Indian Music Industry (an IFPI affiliate), turned 60 on September 1. 

An alumnus of St. Xavier’s Institute of Communications, Mumbai, Fernandes brings over three decades of leadership across global media, entertainment, and policy think-tanks.

Since 2017, he has been leading the Indian Music Industry, driving strategy, board development, advocacy, and executive management. Earlier, he served as Chief Executive Officer at Gateway House: Indian Council on Global Relations (2013-2016) and continues as a Board Member. 

His longest stint was at Warner Bros Entertainment, where he spent over 16 years, rising from Executive Assistant to Managing Director.

His career also includes leadership roles at Edelweiss Financial Services as Senior Vice-President, Warner Bros (International) as Country Manager & Managing Director, Suvarna Films India Ltd. as Chairman & Managing Director, and VXL India Consumer Products as Marketing Manager.

With 33 years of CEO experience, Fernandes has built a reputation for strategic foresight, adaptability, and building growth in fast-evolving ecosystems.
