YouTube Music Adds AI Labels As Deezer Plans Filter For AI-Generated Tracks

Music streaming platforms are introducing new measures to help listeners identify AI-generated music as artificial intelligence reshapes the way songs are created, distributed and consumed.

YouTube Music has begun rolling out labels for tracks created primarily using generative AI, while French streaming service Deezer is preparing a feature that will allow users to exclude fully AI-generated music from search results. The moves come amid increasing concerns about transparency, the authenticity of artist identities and the impact of AI-generated tracks on the music industry.

YouTube Music introduces AI labels

YouTube Music's new labels will appear on the player page for tracks created primarily with generative AI, including AI-generated compositions and vocals. Users can tap the label to access additional information about how the music was created.

The platform said it is working with music industry partners and using its own detection tools to identify AI-generated content. The labels are also expected to extend to the main YouTube platform.

The initiative reflects growing demand for greater transparency as AI-generated music becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish from human-created work.

Deezer gives listeners control over AI music

Deezer is taking a different approach by developing a filter that will allow users to remove fully AI-generated tracks, albums and related artists from search results. The feature is expected to roll out globally before the end of 2026.

The platform already excludes detected AI-generated tracks from its algorithmic and editorial recommendations. The new filter will extend that control to users searching for music directly. It is designed to target fully AI-generated music rather than tracks that use AI in limited ways within a broader human-led creative process.
