Sony has announced that it will discontinue its Music Pro application, with all services set to shut down by October 27, 2026. The app was originally launched alongside the Sony Xperia 1 IV and later expanded to other premium Xperia devices, including the Sony Xperia 5 IV and subsequent models.
Positioned as a professional-grade mobile recording solution, Music Pro enabled users to capture vocals and acoustic instruments with enhanced audio quality using cloud processing. The app leveraged AI-driven noise reduction and reverb removal to deliver what Sony described as “studio-quality” recordings directly from a smartphone.
The company stated that the decision comes due to “various circumstances” and thanked users for their continued support throughout the app’s lifecycle.
Phased Shutdown Timeline:
- July 27, 2026: New purchases and subscription renewals will be discontinued
- August 26, 2026: All paid services will end
- October 27, 2026: Full termination of Music Pro services
Sony has advised existing users to export and save all audio and video data before the final shutdown date, as any remaining content on the platform will become inaccessible after October 27, 2026.
