PVR INOX Pride Film Festival To Screen Music Biopic ‘Rocketman’, ‘Moonlight’ And ‘Baapya’

PVR INOX is bringing back its Pride Film Festival from May 29, with a curated line-up of acclaimed queer cinema from across the world, including the Academy Award-winning Moonlight, musical biopic Rocketman and Marathi feature Baapya.

The week-long festival will be held across 20 cities and 40 cinemas, giving audiences an opportunity to revisit some of cinema’s most celebrated stories centred on identity, love, courage and self-expression on the big screen.

Speaking about the initiative, Niharika Bijli, Lead Strategist, PVR INOX Ltd., said cinema continues to be a powerful medium for empathy, dialogue and inclusion.

“At PVR INOX, we believe storytelling has the ability to foster inclusion and celebrate diverse voices, and this festival is a reflection of that commitment. We are proud to bring back globally celebrated titles such as Moonlight and Rocketman, as well as Baapya, a story from the heartland of India. We hope the festival sparks conversations and reminds audiences of the transformative power of cinema,” she said.

The festival line-up includes Moonlight, Barry Jenkins’ Oscar-winning coming-of-age drama that explores race, masculinity and sexuality through three phases of a young man’s life. Rocketman traces the rise and personal struggles of music icon Elton John through a musical fantasy narrative, while Baapya adds a regional voice to the slate with its exploration of identity and human relationships within a contemporary Marathi setting.

PVR INOX said the festival is part of its ongoing initiative to celebrate landmark films and exceptional storytelling from India and around the world. By reintroducing iconic films in theatres, the company aims to create opportunities for younger audiences to discover these stories while allowing longtime viewers to relive them on the big screen.
