Shreya Ghoshal And Badshah Join Forces For Romantic Dance-Pop Track ‘Mahiya’

Bringing together two distinct musical identities, singer Shreya Ghoshal and rapper Badshah have collaborated on their latest single, Mahiya. Released on Wednesday, the romantic dance-pop track blends Ghoshal's signature melodic vocals with Badshah's contemporary pop sensibilities.

Composed and written by Badshah and produced by Hiten, Mahiya combines romantic melodies with upbeat dance-pop production. The accompanying music video features Shreya Ghoshal, Badshah and actor Avneet Kaur, bringing the song's romantic narrative to the screen.

Speaking about the collaboration, Shreya Ghoshal said, “Mahiya was an exciting opportunity for me to explore a sound and space that is a little different from what audiences usually associate me with. For the longest time, people have known me through my playback singing, where I get to bring a character's emotions to life through music. With non-film tracks, I get to express myself differently as an artiste, experiment with sounds and explore collaborations that take me beyond my usual musical space.”

She added that working with Badshah allowed both artists to bring their individual musical styles together. The combination of romance and pop-dance made the project particularly exciting, while appearing in the music video added another dimension to the experience.

Mahiya also marks another step in Ghoshal's exploration of non-film music. Beyond her established playback singing career, the singer has been experimenting with contemporary sounds and collaborating with artists across different musical backgrounds, including AP Dhillon, ARJN, KDS, FIFTY4 and Ronn.

Through these collaborations, Ghoshal continues to explore musical territories beyond film soundtracks, bringing her vocal versatility to independent releases and contemporary pop productions.

Mahiya is now available on streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.
