Oscar-winning Composer MM Keeravani To Score Music For Republic Day 2026 Parade

Oscar-winning composer M.M. Keeravani has been entrusted with composing the music for India’s Republic Day Parade 2026, marking a significant cultural moment for the national celebrations.

Announcing the news on X, Keeravani described the opportunity as a deeply moving honour. The composer noted that the 2026 parade coincides with the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram”, the iconic song that has long symbolised India’s freedom movement and national spirit. The musical presentation, created under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, will be performed by a massive ensemble of 2,500 artists from across the country, reflecting India’s linguistic, regional, and cultural diversity.

“On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the iconic song Vande Mataram, I feel deeply honoured and privileged to have composed the music for the 26th January Republic Day Parade,” Keeravani wrote, adding that the production aims to celebrate the collective spirit of the nation.

Rehearsals for the 77th Republic Day Parade are currently underway at Kartavya Path, as preparations gather momentum ahead of the January 26 celebrations.

The 2026 Republic Day will also carry diplomatic significance. European Council President António Luís Santos da Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen are set to attend as chief guests. Their visit will coincide with the 16th EU–India Summit, scheduled for January 27, where discussions are expected to focus on strengthening strategic cooperation across areas including trade, defence and security, clean energy transition, and people-to-people ties.

With Keeravani,best known internationally for his Oscar-winning work on RRR,at the helm of its musical score, the Republic Day Parade 2026 promises to blend national pride with a powerful contemporary artistic vision.
