MS Dhoni Invests In Kuku, Joins As Brand Ambassador For Kuku TV

Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni has invested in Kuku, a mobile-first, AI-driven premium storytelling platform, and has also come on board as the brand ambassador for its microdrama app, Kuku TV.

Kuku operates a suite of content platforms including Kuku TV for short-form dramas, Kuku FM for audio storytelling, and Guru for edutainment, while also recently expanding into theatrical releases. Founded in 2018 by Lal Chand Bisu, Vinod Kumar Meena, and Vikas Goyal, the company has grown rapidly, crossing over 350 million installs across its apps. Its content library spans more than 20,000 titles in over seven languages, with several shows surpassing 100 million views.

Speaking on the association, Dhoni said he was drawn to Kuku’s differentiated approach to storytelling and its strong growth trajectory. He also highlighted his connection with the founders’ small-town roots and their vision of building an AI-led platform from India for global audiences.

Lal Chand Bisu, Co-founder and CEO of Kuku, noted that Dhoni’s reputation for bold decision-making aligns closely with the company’s own approach to innovation. Vinod Kumar Meena, Co-founder and COO, added that Dhoni’s widespread appeal across India makes him a natural fit as the platform expands its reach. Vikas Goyal, Co-founder and CTO, emphasised that Dhoni’s understanding of audiences will be valuable as Kuku continues to strengthen its AI-driven storytelling ecosystem.

The partnership is also being amplified through a new campaign, #DhoniWatchesKukuTV, anchored by a brand film built around the line, “aap Mahi ko dekhte ho, aur Mahi Kuku TV ko.” The campaign taps into Dhoni’s instinctive persona to highlight Kuku TV’s bite-sized, high-quality storytelling format.

Kuku’s growth has been backed by investors including Krafton, Vertex Ventures, IFC, and Fundamentum, among others. The platform has also seen significant traction globally, with Kuku TV witnessing a surge in downloads and ranking among the fastest-growing apps worldwide, according to Sensor Tower.

With this strategic investment and brand association, Kuku aims to further solidify its position as a leading AI-native storytelling platform, scaling its content ecosystem across formats, languages, and geographies.
