Indie Circle Songwriting Camp Celebrates Regional Music And Emerging Talent In Chandigarh

The Indie Circle Songwriting Camp, organised by Sony Music Publishing, IPRS, and the Chandigarh Citizen Foundation (CCF), in partnership with Jugnu Music, concluded with the Indie Circle Music Showcase – World Music Day Celebration in Chandigarh.

Held from June 18 to 20, 2026, the three-day songwriting camp culminated in a live showcase on June 21, bringing together more than 20 emerging artists from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. The initiative celebrated the "music of the heartland" by encouraging participants to blend contemporary songwriting with the rich folk traditions and storytelling heritage of North India.

Throughout the camp, artists were mentored by Mellow D, Navi Ferozpurwala and Simiran Kaur Dhadli. Participants also attended educational sessions focused on copyright, music publishing, creator rights, royalties and music monetisation, equipping them with knowledge to build sustainable careers in the music industry.

The programme aimed to raise awareness about intellectual property rights while nurturing the next generation of independent artists. Representatives from IPRS, Sony Music Publishing, and the Chandigarh Citizen Foundation emphasised the importance of regional music development, music education and empowering creators through industry knowledge and opportunities.

The original songs created during the camp will be commercially released through Jugnu Music, giving participants the opportunity to experience the complete journey from songwriting and collaboration to professional music release.

The initiative also reflects IPRS' ongoing commitment to strengthening India's regional music ecosystem by promoting copyright awareness, royalty education, cultural preservation and long-term support for independent creators.
