Indian Music Experience Museum Seeks Youth Advisors For 2026 Cohort

Bengaluru’s Indian Music Experience invites young voices to shape the future of music culture

Indian Music Experience Museum Seeks Youth Advisors For 2026 Cohort

The Indian Music Experience Museum (IME) in Bengaluru has launched its sixth Youth Advisory Board (YAB) recruitment, inviting students aged 14 to 17 to play an active role in shaping the museum’s future programmes, communication strategies and outreach initiatives. Located in JP Nagar, the IME is India’s first interactive music museum, designed to celebrate the diversity, history and evolving culture of Indian music through immersive exhibits, multimedia galleries, performance spaces and educational offerings.

The Youth Advisory Board is a pioneering youth-centric initiative conceptualised in 2021 in partnership with the British Council. It offers young participants a rare opportunity to work alongside museum professionals, gaining behind-the-scenes exposure to cultural institution operations while developing leadership, strategic thinking, critical analysis, teamwork and creative communication skills. Previous cohorts have helped review museum programming, propose new engagement ideas, assist with youth-focused events, and influence how IME connects with its audiences.

Selected advisers will serve a 10-month term from March to December 2026, committing approximately five to six hours per week, and contribute to a range of activities, from evaluating existing exhibitions and public programmes to helping shape digital outreach and social media engagement. The role also includes opportunities to organise youth-focused events, participate in workshops on leadership and collaboration, and present recommendations directly to the museum’s leadership.

This programme reflects IME’s broader mission to make cultural heritage accessible and relevant to younger generations, providing a platform where youth voices are not just heard but integrated into institutional strategy. Participants also benefit from mentorship, hands-on learning experiences, and the chance to be part of an emerging alumni network that supports future engagement in India’s arts and culture ecosystem. The deadline to apply is March 2, 2026, with applications accepted via the museum’s official website
