What Is Music Matters?

Music Matters in association with Apple Music,  Music Matters Live is Asia’s premier independent music festival and is back in Singapore this Sept 9 - 13, 2017. It’s the seventh edition, for 5 nights of music discovery.  For the last 11 years, the Music Matters Live festival has been the pioneer in creating music connections between Asia Pacific with the rest of the world, cementing itself as the gateway for a dynamic line-up of local and international artists looking to break into the world’s most populated region. The festival runs alongside the All That Matters conference covering the latest topics and trends in the Music, Sports, Online Entertainment, Gaming and Marketing industries from Asia and throughout the world and giving our festival acts the opportunity to perform live in front of key global entertainment industry influencers and executives.

Yesterdrive, India

Formed In The Summer Of 2013, “Yesterdrive” is a Five Piece Indie Rock Band from India. They have been the third band to be unboxed by Pepsi MTV Indies as part of their "PEPSI UNBOX". They represented India at the Indo - Myanmar Festival 2016 at Yangon. They have also collaborated with "Around the World in 80 Music Videos" for their single, "Dread". The Delhi-based Indie/Alternative Rock band from Arunachal Pradesh. Yesterdrive is a combination of words “Yesterday” and “Drive”, named after the sounds of the 80s and 90s and a stomp box the band uses. With performance throughout the nation the band recently went to Myanmar to perform at "Festival of India". Currently working on 2nd EP the band is looking forward to more music. 

Ravi Iyer

Based out of Mumbai, India, Ravi Iyer is a Guitar Mentor, Performer and Composer. His musical journey began at the age of 7 with formal training on the Tabla. It was later in his teenage years when he took on the Guitar. He has mentored many students over a period of 3 decades. He has also played innumerable shows around the country with his old bands. Besides the vast amount of work that he has done in the industry, he currently tours with his world fusion project across the globe and has released 4 albums under the same project. With the immense dynamics in his music, he and his project will surely impress a lot of people at the festival.

FuzzCulture, India

FuzzCulture is a 2-piece Electronica act from New Delhi, India comprising of Arsh Sharma and Srijan Mahajan. As an act, they aim to combine melody and groove within a framework of Mixtape experimentation. Fuzzculture's musical influences aim at combining the intensity and sonic of assault of Industrial Music acts like Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, Skinny Puppy along with more modern electronic music stalwarts such as Flume, Mr.Bill, Opiuo, Machinedrum, Apex Twin, Noisia etc. Their live performances are filled with immense energy and one is advised to come prepared for a full-fledged roller coaster ride. They’re no newcomers to Singapore. Interestingly, they’ve played quite a few shows there and have gathered a sizeable following. Their fans in Singapore will surely be happy that they’re coming back to play for them.

Alobo Naga, India

Alobo Naga is an Artist, Composer, Songwriter and one of the most refined, popular & well-known artists from North East India. He started expressing his passion for music at the tender age of 5 and by the age of 11, he began writing & performing his original music. He is the front man of the band ANTB. He was also the winner of 2012 Best Indian Act At MTV Europe Music Awards. With his eclectic and energetic sound, the people of Singapore are in for a treat.

As it is every year, Music Matters Live promises to be a 5-day extravaganza. If you’re thinking of attending a festival which showcases the vast musical cultures and textures throughout South-East Asia and the world, this is definitely something you should think about attending!
