Hyderabad's The Moonshine Project To Open New Live Music Venue In Neopolis In 2027

Hyderabad-based alternative live music venue The Moonshine Project is expanding its footprint with a new branch planned at Neopolis in Kokapet, Hyderabad, in 2027. The expansion marks another step in the venue's journey of supporting independent and regional music.

Founded in 2015, The Moonshine Project has spent over a decade building a platform for independent Telugu music and emerging artists. Located in Jubilee Hills, the venue has become a recognised space for Hyderabad's regional music community, particularly at a time when the independent Telugu music scene was still developing.

Speaking about the expansion, co-founder Hemender Reddy described the upcoming venue as a significant milestone, adding that it would create more opportunities for independent musicians and music enthusiasts.

Over the years, the venue has evolved beyond hosting occasional band performances to building a regular live music calendar. Its programming includes regional music performances, heavy metal sessions under Aggressive Tendency, Wednesday Varnam concerts and classical music events through the Kutcheri Project.

The Moonshine Project also operates EXT, a semi-indoor live music space launched in 2022. Unlike its focus on Telugu music, EXT hosts artists across languages and genres, including musicians visiting Hyderabad from different parts of the country.

The venue has introduced 36 bands from Hyderabad and follows an artist-first approach, with a focus on creating opportunities for independent performers. Beyond music, it has also developed communities around theatre, art, flea markets, workshops and dance.

With the upcoming Neopolis branch, the founders aim to further strengthen Hyderabad's independent music ecosystem and expand opportunities for regional talent.
