Birla Studios, Temple Town Pictures Unveil ‘Amma Kanakadurga’ From ‘Kanaka Durga’

Birla Studios and Temple Town Pictures, in association with Zee Music Company, have unveiled ‘Amma Kanakadurga’, the first song from their upcoming devotional drama Kanaka Durga, at a special event in Vijayawada.

Composed by Thaman S and penned by lyricist Sira Sri, the devotional track celebrates the grace and spiritual significance of Goddess Kanaka Durga. The song introduces the film’s central theme of faith, marking the beginning of its musical journey ahead of its theatrical release.

The launch in Vijayawada holds particular significance, given the city’s deep-rooted association with the Sri Kanaka Durga Amma Varu temple, which attracts lakhs of devotees, particularly during Navratri and Bhavani Deeksha. The choice of location connects the song’s release with the devotional traditions that inspire the film.

For Thaman S, the composition carries a personal connection with the deity, whom he regularly visits in Vijayawada. Speaking about the song, the composer said, “I wanted the song to be more than just a composition; I wanted it to carry the intense emotion of a devotee’s prayer to Amma and reflect the immense power and grace of Amma Varu.”

Actor Allari Naresh, who plays a lead role in the film, said Vijayawada was a natural choice for the launch, citing his late father, EVV Satyanarayana’s devotion to Goddess Kanaka Durga. He also shared that he had asked Thaman S to compose a song that would resonate widely during Navratri.

Naresh added that filming had been completed and the movie was gearing up for release soon.

Produced by Birla Studios and Temple Town Pictures, Kanaka Durga stars Allari Naresh and Kajal Choudhary. The film is directed by Pradeep Maddali and written by BVS Ravi, bringing together faith, action and emotion in a narrative rooted in the spiritual significance of the Goddess.

The devotional theme also shaped Naresh’s preparation for his role. During filming, the actor followed a disciplined lifestyle, abstaining from non-vegetarian food and footwear in keeping with practices associated with Bhavani Deeksha.

Sunil Chainani, Co-producer, Birla Studios, said the song’s launch during the auspicious Navratri celebrations in Vijayawada made the occasion particularly meaningful. He credited Thaman S with bringing the film’s faith and spiritual fervour into the composition.

Ajit Thakur and B.V.S. Ravi, producers at Temple Town Pictures, said they hoped the song would find a place in devotees’ prayers and celebrations, describing the release as the first step in bringing the film’s story of faith to audiences.

Sujal Parekh, Chief Business Officer, Zee Music Company, said the label was pleased to partner with the production houses to bring the composition to audiences, adding that devotional music continues to connect people across cultures, languages and generations.

With ‘Amma Kanakadurga’, the makers have placed devotional music at the forefront of the film’s promotional campaign, using the Navratri period and Vijayawada’s spiritual significance to introduce its central theme to audiences.

‘Amma Kanakadurga’ is now available on Zee Music Company’s YouTube channel and leading music streaming platforms.
