Anirudh Ravichander To Score Music For M.S. Subbulakshmi Biopic Starring Rashmika Mandanna

The much-awaited biopic on legendary Carnatic vocalist and Bharat Ratna awardee M.S. Subbulakshmi is set to bring together Rashmika Mandanna and composer Anirudh Ravichander for the project.

Rashmika will portray the iconic singer in the upcoming biopic, which will be directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. Anirudh Ravichander has officially been confirmed as the film’s music director.

The film, titled ‘MS – A Legacy On Screen’, is set to be officially launched at Chennai’s Music Academy on September 16, coinciding with M.S. Subbulakshmi’s 110th birth anniversary celebrations. Actor and filmmaker Kamal Haasan will attend the launch as the chief guest.

The project is being produced by Geetha Arts along with Rockline Entertainment and Bunny Vas Works. The announcement brings together one of India’s prominent contemporary music composers with the story of one of the country’s most celebrated classical vocalists.

M.S. Subbulakshmi, known for her contribution to Carnatic, devotional and classical music, was the first musician to receive the Bharat Ratna. She also became the first Indian to perform at the United Nations General Assembly in 1966.

With Anirudh attached to the project, the music is expected to be a key component of the film as it brings Subbulakshmi’s musical legacy to a contemporary cinematic audience.
