Tamil hip-hop artist Dacalty has joined forces with producer 2puff for ‘Vanakko’, a high-energy rap track rooted in Tamil hip-hop, street attitude and playful swagger.
Built around punchy bars, local slang and an infectious “Vanakko Macha” hook, the track captures the energy of a crew coming together to have fun, make noise and carve its own path. Blending humour with aggressive punchlines, ‘Vanakko’ revolves around staying true to yourself without worrying about outside opinions.
Speaking about the song, Dacalty shares, “‘Vanakko’ is all about having fun, making noise and being completely yourself without worrying about what anyone else thinks. I wanted the track to capture that raw, carefree energy while staying true to the Tamil rap sound that I connect with. Working with 2puff brought a great energy to the track, and I’m excited for people to turn this one up and make it their own.”
2puff adds, “With ‘Vanakko’, we wanted to create something that feels energetic, playful and unapologetic. Dacalty brings his own personality and flow to the track, and I wanted the production to complement that with a sound that keeps the energy high from start to finish. It was a lot of fun putting this together, and I hope listeners have as much fun with it as we did.”
Coimbatore-rooted, Dacalty has built a distinct identity in South Indian hip-hop through his hard-hitting Tamil rap, emo-rap influences and underground aesthetic. His collaboration ‘Makkamishi – Brother’ with Paal Dabba and Harris Jayaraj has crossed 43 million Spotify streams, while his 2025 collaboration ‘Endhada Chetta’ with Malayali Monkeys and RXZOR, released through Think Music’s Think Indie, has garnered close to 900,000 Spotify streams.
For ‘Vanakko’, Dacalty collaborates with 2puff, a producer and artist contributing to the emerging producer-led wave in South Indian hip-hop. His credits include tracks such as ‘AAK PAAK’, ‘ARRAMBAM’, ‘Hit Man’, ‘Ctrl E’ and ‘CHAAPAAH’. His 2026 release ‘AAK PAAK’, released through Gully Gang Records / Alt Plus, adds to his growing catalogue within India’s independent hip-hop space.
With ‘Vanakko’, the duo brings together Tamil rap, energetic production and an irreverent sense of fun, further reflecting the evolving sound of India’s regional hip-hop scene.
