Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival To Host Global Music Summit On November 19

The Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival will host an International Music Summit on November 19, a day ahead of its two-day 2026 edition, which will feature American artistes Nelly and Khalid on November 20 and 21.

Organised in collaboration with India International Music Week, the summit will bring together festival promoters, record labels, booking agents and other music industry professionals from across the world to explore opportunities for Meghalaya’s homegrown music talent.

The programme will feature panel discussions, workshops and interactions with artistes associated with the Meghalaya Grassroots Music Project (MGMP). Open to musicians and artistes from across the state, the summit aims to provide a platform for local talent to connect with international industry professionals and explore potential collaborations.

The 2026 edition, themed ‘Year of Generations’, will also introduce Cherry Blossom FIT CHECK, a fashion and self-expression competition with a total cash prize of Rs 20 lakh. Participants can enter online or at the festival venue, with the winners set to be announced on the main stage.

Expanding its entertainment offering beyond music, the festival will feature a Red Bull Fan Zone, alongside mixed martial arts (MMA), arm-wrestling, cosplay and other lifestyle activities.

Festival producer Rockski EMG credited the Meghalaya government’s support for helping establish the event as a prominent music and tourism platform. The festival was named Music Festival of the Year at EEMAX Global in 2025.

According to the organisers, the festival has also contributed to creating opportunities for local artistes, hospitality businesses and entrepreneurs, while attracting visitors to the state.

The Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival will take place on November 20 and 21 in Shillong, with the International Music Summit scheduled for November 19.
