Mumbai Green Raaga 2020 Way Ahead to Propagate Classical Music to Commoners and Youngsters!
After the stupendous success of its first edition in 2019 Tender Roots Academy of Performing Arts in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM)  is yet again back to present the second edition of its initiative Mumbai Green Raaga on Sunday, 5th January 2020 from 7.00 am to 9.00 am. Mumbai Green Raaga is a first of its kind initiative by Tender Roots that was launched in Mumbai in the year 2019 wherein the Indian classical music concerts were presented across 17 MCGM gardens same day... same time...and featured almost 100 talented young and upcoming musicians from across Mumbai and Pune… which was indeed a must-watch! The idea is to give the regular morning walkers and wellness enthusiasts a glimpse of their very own traditional music so that they can experience the morning raagas in their very own gardens, while they also encourage young musicians, in their initiative to bring Indian Classical Music to the commoners and the youngsters of today. Thus, the one-day extravaganza intends to nurture the future generations of artists and the art-lovers. This year Mumbai Green Raaga is bigger as it is spreading its melodies to three new gardens. The year 2020 will have 20 MCGM gardens featuring classical concerts simultaneously. Like last year, every garden will have an instrumental performance and a vocal performance. There will be more than 120 artists from all across Maharashtra for these performances. This initiative helps to promote the rich intangible heritage of Indian performing arts through a multi-fold impact – not only it is a golden opportunity for young, upcoming and dedicated artists to showcase their talent but it also provides the morning walkers/joggers and music lovers to wake up to a grand musical morning in the midst of greenery. Mumbai Green Raaga not only encourages young talent in the field of classical music but also gets music closer to us and connects us with nature. Through this initiative, the aim is to create awareness about the vast heritage of Indian Classical Music. All the gardens will resonate simultaneously with beautiful Raagas thus adding melody to Mumbai's morning. It will add a soothing and melodious feel for all those who visit these gardens giving a musical start to their day. It is a wonderful occasion for every Mumbaikar to step outdoors in the morning against a musical backdrop and be a part of it. Some of the performers at the second edition of Mumbai Green Raga Festival out of total 40 main artists and 80 accompanists are- Roopak Naigaonkar (Sarod), Rameshwar Dange (Vocals), Priyaankaa Mathur (Vocals), Kedar Kelkar (Vocals), Gandhar Bhalerao (Flute), Prasad Rahane (Sitar), Nastya Saraswati (Violin), Mandar Katti (Sitar), Atindra Sarvadikar ( Vocals), Amritanshu Dutta (Slide Guitar).
