A look back at the best Electronic International Acts who have toured India in 2018

2018 has been a great year for music fans so far and we are just mid way. The year started with a bang with top international acts like Major Lazer, Joseph Capriati and more as part of the headlining acts at VH1 Supersonic. Since January we have seen a string of quality bookings performing in India and it has just increased the anticipation for whats in store for the second half of 2018. International bookings are not only performing at major cities across India but also performing at lesser known niche festivals in Tier 2 cities. Festivals like Ragasthan in Jaiselmer and Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh have seen the likes of Christ Burstein, Khasi Bloodz and more. Here is a list of few International artists who recently performed in India and blew of everyones' mind.

Stavroz:

This Live act visited on a 2 city tour with gigs in Mumbai and Hyderabad. Stavroz are known for their intimate live set and unique dj sets which were quickly picked up, sending them on regular trips abroad.  They have a weekly show on Belgian National alternative radio ‘Studio Brussel’ where they display an uncanny ability to combine the old with the new and the East with the West.

Peggy Gou:

South Korean DJ/Producer and heartthrob of many guys worldwide performed in Mumbai and Bangalore recently which turned out to be one of the biggest gigs so far. For her gig in Mumbai there were at least 300 people waiting outside after the venue got packed. Peggy played a day time set in Bangalore which also broke many records there. Her DJ sets are assured, kinetic combination of dark, pulsing house and techno, broken beats and abstract compositions.

DJ Stingray

Detroit Techno legend DJ Stingray did a 3 city tour recently and performed at a warehouse party in Famous Studio, Mumbai for which almost 800 people turned up. Sherard Ingram aka DJ Stingray has been a strong presence in the world of techno for over twenty years and is considered to be the Godfather of Techno in Detroit. Besides Famous Studio, Stingray also performed at Delhi and Bangalore.

Dixon:

Resident Advisor's number 1 DJ/Producer Dixon had a special one city gig in Mumbai earlier this year. Dixon has been the best DJ by Resident Advisor's Polls for 4 years in the running and his gig drew massive crowd from all over the country. Dixon’s performances consist recognisable values: an emphasis on rigorous selection, attention to detail and enduring quality. But also a preference for emotion over function.

Hernan Cattaneo

Argentinian born superstar Dj Hernan Cattaneo returned back to India for the second year in the running for a 4 city tour covering Mumbai, Delhi, Pune and Hyderabad. He is one of the biggest names in the underground music circuit with a career span of almost three decades. Hernan is one of the busiest DJs in the international Dj community with constant touring and performing at different cities across the entire globe. Other notable acts to have toured and performed in India include Yongr, Mind Against, Netsky, Oliver Hunteman and many more. There has been considerable growth in terms of programming gigs and concerts in India and it has left the door open for many possibilities for the future. The second half looks promising already with Helena Hauff performing this weekend and with the announcement of SCI-TEC label owner and Minimal/Techno legend Dubfire slated to tour India during October.
