IIFA AWARDS 2019 has been a grand celebration of Indian culture, tradition, and ethics wherein apart from the mainstream Indian film fraternity professionals being awarded, at one point most deserving off the camera tech wizards, cinematographers, lyricist were awarded... While on the other hand the Bollywood’s ace dancer-actor Madhuri Dixit showcased our very own Guru Shishya Parampara of Indian classical music and dance, paying tribute to the women behind her exotic dance stature, her dance coach and mentor the dance maestro Saroj Khan. Madhuri Dixit has been an actor par excellence who’s not only known for her acting but also graceful dancing skills, that makes the diva un-parallelled till date. It was since the very beginning of her career that she created a mark in the Indian film industry  for her exuberant dancing skills for the songs like Ek Do TeenMera Piya Ghar Aaya, Chane Ke Khet Me and Dhak Dhak Karne Laga, which eventually became evergreen hits, all of which were choreographed by Saroj Khan. At the 20th edition of the Indian International Film Academy (IIFA) Awards Madhuri Dixit Presented the dance maestro Saroj Khan the award for the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Indian cinema'. Addressing the occasion Madhuri reminisces moments spend with Khan says, "I feel blessed to have such a lovely association with Sarojji and for such a long time. I learned about what is elegance (Nazakat) and how to create magic with Expressions ( Ada) and dance with it, all from her. I think she is the only choreographer who looks women look beautiful, innocent and sensual all at the same time and  Bollywood dancing wouldn't be the same without her." Madhuri added, "It was Sarojji’s dedication to the field of dance that the film fraternity decided to have a choreography award as a category in 1988 and she won the first Best Choreography Award for the song ’Ek Do Teen’ .It’s my honor to pay tribute to the legend today! With a career span of over forty years, Saroj Khan has choreographed more than 2000 songs and have worked with Madhuri in several projects including 'Maar Daala' from 'Devdas,' 'Tamma Tamma Loge' in 'Thanedaar,' 'Gulaab Gang' to 'Tabah Ho Gaye, a solo dance number picturised on Madhuri in Karan Johar's film 'Kalank' released in April this year.
