What if I told you that Kendrick Lamar’s latest album ‘Damn’ had a song produced solely on an iPhone?

  Ladies and gentlemen, this is a different world than the one you know of. The mobiles phones are getting bigger in size while technology is getting smaller by the day’s end. Gone are the days when one had to pull up big large synths, turntables, Tascams and all the Victorian gizmos. You can now produce music just with your mobile phone using apps and guess what you can record, too! Steve Lacy of the band ‘The Internet’ is a young artist in his 20's. He produced the song ‘Pride’ on Kendrick Lamar latest installation ‘Damn’. The musician using his iPhone, an iRig cable, and a guitar can create most of his music. Steve uses Garageband, which he finds fairly simpler to use. That’s when we stumbled upon our very own Sidd Coutto. On being asked about producing on phone and how it falls together, Sid didn’t hold any and replied saying

“There are so many apps one can use. I use loopy for live looping, Korg gadget, and module for sequencing or keyboard sounds. Garageband is kind of useful, also Xenon and Multitrack DAW are useful.”

“It's kind of slow to use a phone/apps compared to a computer setup with shortcuts and all. Loopy is great for songwriting, I beatbox and then play guitar, I used to use it in my live act as well, but I use another looper now. Korg gadget is my favorite to make electronic thingies but everything is faster on Cubase and mac. So, I tend to just use the phone to capture immediate ideas But I can produce an entire album with my phone If I need to!”
