Gurpreet Singh

Co-Founder & COO, One Digital Entertainment

A young enterprising entrepreneur and music enthusiast, Gurpreet Singh spearheads one of India’s largest digital video and content networks, One Digital Entertainment, specializing in content across Entertainment, Music, Food, Comedy, Fashion and Lifestyle. Launched just 5 years ago, today the outfit boasts of an unbeaten repertoire of managing a whopping 1000+ individual creators and 3 billion watched minutes of content every month.

At 17 years, Gurpreet launched a flagship mobile Services Company called Funtooz, one of India’s first SMS and mobile content platform. It earned him the coup of being the youngest entrepreneur hailing from Punjab.

At present, stars like Badshah, Raftaar and digital sensation Prajakta Koli aka Mostly Sane amongst several others, fondly credit him for contributing to the success of their career trajectory. Over time he has encouraged several renowned celebrities to take to the digital platform and has played an integral part in building their strong digital presence. As of January 2018, his company works with the likes of  Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Armaan Malik, Shamali Kholgade, Jazz Dhami, Akriti Kakkar, The Virat Kohli Foundation, Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, Chef Ranveer Brar, Viacom18 Motion Pictures, and Kolkata Knight Riders amongst hundred others.

Currently, his company has a strong network of over 150 brands including Mahindra, Reebok, Yatra, Jack & Jones, Virgin Atlantic, Nokia, Tinder, Lakme, Chings etc. The company also co-produced India’s first digital talent hunt show in collaboration with Fremantle called India’s Digital Super Star sponsored by Amazon and Gionee.

During his 16 years of experience, Gurpreet has successfully moved up the ranks. From heading the content production at Hungama and UTV to fore fronting the entire mobile business and online content syndication for Viacom 18 Networks, he has had a prolific stint in the digital entertainment space. He has fruitfully acquired content from the biggest of the record labels in India as well as efficaciously planned and executed promotions for new album releases to add tremendous value to the projects.

It’s noteworthy that India’s 1st ever live streaming concert on Mobile as well as internet for Sunburn Goa Festival was executed under his supervision.

Being instrumental in launching several record label businesses of his clients like Gippy Grewal, Humble Music, Whitehill Music and many others, Gurpreet Singh has also conceptualised and created India’s first hip hop podcast in collaboration with Saavn which saw the country’s best hip hop talent. He has also co-curated platforms like MTV spoken word that featured artists like Badshah, Raftaar, Guru Randhawa,  to support the independent hip hop scene. He has enabled the distribution of over 1000 independent tracks over the last year across various digital platforms for artists like Badshah, Shekhar Ravjiani, Raftaar, Akriti Kakkar, Gurdas Maan and India’s biggest YouTuber Bhuvan Bam amongst others.

Gurpreet has even aided a few artists unveil their independent properties around music. Some examples of the same would be Acoustically Me with Armaan Malik, Muntashir Diaries with renowned lyricist Manoj Muntashir and On Strings with Prabhgill. A web series named The Sufi Hall of Fame was created by him in order to garner content around one of India’s biggest Sufi Festival, The Sufi Route.

He has built a solid case study in branded content by roping in multiple brands including Vodafone, Micromax, Domino’s and Huawei for original content associations, making rapper Raftaar possibly the first Indian artist to be backed by brands in the same way a record label traditionally would associate itself with an artist. The deal with Vodafone for his independent single ‘Instagram Love’ is a classic example of a brand funding content while still letting the artist retain its full IP and the right to earn royalties, which, until now, was unheard of in India. He has also worked with various production houses in assisting to amplify the reach of their movie promotions riding on innovative solutions around Music. A music video made with Raftaar and Shirley Setia for the Hollywood movie “Passengers” for Sony Pictures was yet another successful case study helping an international movie reach into masses riding on the Music creators from his company.

Gurpreet has worked with numerous brands like Gionee, Jack & Jones, Chings to ensure the amplification of their music videos reach across digital platforms building new revenue opportunities for mainstream as well as upcoming artists alike   His company recently partnered with Nokia to create the Ultimate Nokia Tune Mashup that had the best artists from the music fraternity team up with the general audience to curate and recreate the iconic Nokia signature tune. The campaign featured creators such as Shirley Setia, DJ Chetas, Aditi Singh Sharma, and Darshan Raval taking to their social media handles to post their version of the famous brand tune and asking their fans/ followers to send in entries for their adaptation of the tune. Renowned Bollywood composers Ehsaan and Loy curated and recreated the tune along with the artists and the user generated entries. It was one of the most applauded campaigns of last year.

He also works closely with various Bollywood directors and production houses in assisting them with curating music and new talent for their upcoming Bollywood releases. To Gurpreet’s credit lies the conceptualization of India’s biggest digital show called Lockdown in partnership with Badshah where they bring to Bollywood and digital superstars to join forces and produce two songs as well as music videos, all in just a 24 hour time frame! The show is slated to release by the end of May and will see artists like Sachin-Jigar, Monali Thakur, Kailash Kher, Shekhar Ravjiani, Jonita Gandhi, Darshan Raval, Sherley Sethia amongst many others.

Currently, he holds the feat of managing, monetizing and amplifying the digital portfolios of more than 350 main stream and upcoming artists of the music industry
