Har Dil Mein Samvidhan, a grassroots campaign, is dedicated to embedding the essence of the Constitution of India and its values into the daily lives of Indian citizens. With support from 982 partners spanning 373 districts in 27 states and 4 union territories, the campaign aims to celebrate the historic 75th Republic Day on January 26, 2024, and continue its outreach until February 3.
Partners from nearly all districts in Jharkhand, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh have joined, representing 50% of districts in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The campaign has also witnessed active participation from partners in the North Eastern states, including Assam and Meghalaya, as well as contributors from Daman & Diu.
Excitement surrounds this noble venture, with Ram, ED, Mission Samriddhi, and Co-organiser of Har Dil Mein Samvidhan stating, "We want to take this campaign to as many communities in South India as possible because constitutional awareness is essential for every citizen to use the Constitution as a life guide."
Despite India's Constitution being the nation's bedrock since the first Republic Day in 1950, a significant number of citizens remain unaware of its core values, rights, and responsibilities. Har Dil Mein Samvidhan's tagline, 'know, recognize and live,' encapsulates the campaign's vision to bridge this gap. The overarching goals include building deep awareness and engagement with the Constitution of India, making it relevant in daily life for citizens across the country.
Vinita Gursahani Singh, Managing Trustee of We, The People Abhiyan and Co-organiser of Har Dil Mein Samvidhan, emphasizes the importance of knowing the Constitution. "Knowing our Constitution helps us recognize and reduce inequalities and injustice in society. It also enables us to demand accountability from elected representatives and government functionaries, ensuring they perform based on their constitutional mandate."
Since January 2023, Har Dil Mein Samvidhan partners have been organizing diverse activities such as Street Plays, Workshops, Cycle rallies, Marathons, Pad-Yatra/Jagrukta, Blood Donation, and Preamble distribution. They have also hosted Constitution-themed games and cultural events tailored to local communities, creating and amplifying songs about the Constitution, especially effective in reaching the youth.
In a spirit of inclusivity, partners have translated the campaign logo into regional languages and initiated the first-ever recitation and recording of the preamble in multiple languages. As part of the campaign, "Hamari Virasat" by Hand For Handmade Foundation showcased 75 handmade textile artworks from diverse artisan groups across India, inspired by the art and ideals of the Constitution of India, currently exhibited at the Kala Ghoda Festival in Mumbai.
Rajesh Kalam, Sajha Netritva Manch, Harda, Madhya Pradesh, and Co-organiser of Har Dil Mein Samvidhan, emphasizes the campaign's inclusiveness. "Because this campaign is everyone's, anyone can join and design aligned activities in their context. The Constitution reaching every heart and guiding our society with justice, fraternity, equality, and freedom at its core is a beautiful vision."
Through nationwide action, Har Dil Mein Samvidhan is cultivating awareness about constitutional values, aiming to awaken the collective consciousness of all citizens. The campaign aspires to realize the vision of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' – the world is one family.
