Lights. Camera. Action!

Django hunting his enemies down one shot at a time, The Bride fighting through 88 samurai in vengeance to Kill Bill, Salma’s unforgettable table dance with a python, and finally Jules narrating Ezekiel 25:17 to victims at gunpoint — all of this gives an instant thrill and a rush of nostalgia to the times we’ve spent being enthralled at the action sequences all bound by one force that gave a meaning to these iconic scenes – Quentin Tarantino.

While Indian fans eagerly await the release of Tarantino’s star-studded Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, the Pulp Fiction writer and director Tarantino sat down with Rolling Stone’s David Wild to create a four-part podcast interview only available on Spotify. The podcast features an engaging track-by-track discussion about the film’s soundtrack. The concept behind producing the podcast was to create a space for audiences to engage with Tarantino’s vision and music from the era that shapes the film’s narrative.

Keeping in mind the extra-ordinary performance of Spotify in the second calendar quarter, the celebration-worthy Quentin collaboration definitely comes around at the right time for the company. In fact, it’s Spotify’s dedication to immersing themselves in the music culture that helps them get an edge over their primary rivals. Whether it’s exclusive podcasts or their exceptional playlists, the company makes sure to keep the users happy. Speaking of exceptional playlists, go further down to read how Spotify and the veteran director collaborated on the music front.

You can listen to the podcast here.

Beyond the podcast, users can also check out Tarantino’s guest curation of Spotify’s “Film and TV Favorites” playlist. It features music from Tarantino’s prolific film library, including Johnny Cash’s A Satisfied Mind (Kill Bill Vol 2.), The White Stripes’ Apple Blossom (Hateful Eight), Dusty Springfield’s Son of a Preacher Man (Pulp Fiction), Bill Withers’ Who is He (Jackie Brown) and more. Listeners can also immerse themselves in the sounds of 1969 by jamming out to the “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” soundtrack playlist before heading to theatres with unexpected, insightful audio annotations from the director himself.

What’s more? Spotify also shared Eight Incredible Music Moments in Quentin Tarantino Films through a blogpost!

“Spotify immediately came to mind as we endeavored to excite audiences around the globe about this film and immerse them in the era,” said Elias Plishner, Executive Vice President, Digital Marketing for Columbia Pictures. “Music is intrinsically connected to moments of nostalgia and together with Spotify, we’re taking audiences on an audio journey powered by a rich soundtrack and podcast interview that both Tarantino aficionados and new fans will love.”

“Our platform empowers entertainment marketers like Columbia Pictures to excite consumers about upcoming releases while delivering moments of discovery for our millions of users and celebrate creators,” said Andi Frieder, Head of Sales, Entertainment Industry at Spotify. “Our goal with this takeover is to engage listeners about the rich music of the 1960s and inspire them to head to the theater to immerse themselves even more deeply in the era through the mind of Quentin Tarantino.”
